March 25, 2018 BLESSING OF THE FLEET
Blessing of the Fleet in St. Augustine is a historical ceremony dating back to the city’s earliest days of Spanish colonial occupation. This event takes place on Palm Sunday and invites all vessels, commercial and pleasure, to receive a blessing from the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine. With roots from the Spanish Colonial days when seafaring vessels would be blessed so as to have a safe journey, the tradition continues in 2018. Alll watercraft from trawlers to yachts and more are welcome. Each vessel is encouraged to decorate with flags and bunting as well. The ceremony begins at noon on Sunday, March 25th, 2018, with a procession from the Cathedral Basilica along the Plaza de la Constitución to the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. This traditional blessing will then take place at the Marina. This event is open to the public. 111 Avenida Menendez, St. Augustine, 32084

April 1, 2018 ST. AUGUSTINE EASTER PARADE
Here in the Nation’s Oldest City, we have a parade that is unique in the first colony in America. St. Augustine adopted The “Parada de los Caballos y Coches”, the Parade of Horses and Carriages in early 1957. Now joining the parade are high stepping bands, marching and twirling units, colorfully decorated floats, clowns, gaily decorated horse units, the Easter Bunny, historic militia and police units and beauty queens. Many local and state elected and appointed dignitaries will sit on the reviewing stand as our parade marshal Leads the Royal Trio and Entourage through the downtown streets of St. Augustine. The Parade begins each year at 3:00 p.m. on San Marco Avenue winding through downtown St. Augustine and is preceded by the Promenade in the Plaza de la Constitucion. www.oldestcityeaster.org/
April 4-8, 2018 ST. AUGUSTINE RACE WEEK
The First Coast Sailing Association and its associated yacht clubs are proud to bring to St. Augustine the premiere sailing event of the spring season. It’s a four- day celebration of all types of sailing set in one of America’s oldest seaport cities. In 2018 we’ll continue that great combination of competition and entertainment with spectator-events and entertainment the entire city can enjoy. And, as always, SARW offers challenging offshore racing for sailors arriving from up and down the Atlantic coast. There is something for EVERY BOAT. You don’t have to own an ocean-going boat to participate. Slightly smaller yachts and even trailerable boats are invited to race in the popular Inshore Series just north of the Vilano Bridge. The Offshore Series is for serious racers who like lots of traditional round-the- buoys, upwind-downwind racing. For more information go to www.staugustineraceweek.com
