The Garden Club of St. Augustine hosts the Christmas Tour of Homes each year. This year’s theme is Christmas during the Flagler Era. The tour takes participants along an enjoyable walk through downtown St. Augustine to visit six private homes dating from the 1800s. The event is from noon-5 p.m. Tickets are $30 with advanced purchase required. The annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display and entertainment at the St. Johns County Pier will ring in the new year again for 2018. The event features a kids zone, face painting, rides, a photo booth, rock climbing wall, food vendors and live entertainment. March 2-4, 2018 72nd ANNUAL FLORIDA AZALEA FESTIVAL
The Florida Azalea Festival is held on the first full weekend in March, in Historic Downtown Palatka, Florida. One of the oldest festivals in the state, the Florida Azalea Festival began in 1936 and started as Jaycees Days, a community fund raiser for the local club. The Azalea Festival is located along the banks of the beautiful St. Johns River and down St. Johns Ave. The event is free for the whole family featuring live entertainment, arts & crafts vendors, food and azaleas in bloom. Featured events are the Florida Azalea Beauty Pageant, an Antique Automobile Club of America Car Show, a Bowling Tournament, a Shriners’ Parade, and a whole lot more! March 3, 2018 SEARLE’S RAID OF ST. AUGUSTINE
A reenactment of the “1668 Sack of St. Augustine”. During the day, a 17th century-style military encampment will be open to the public at the Fountain of Youth Park and will play host to drills, demonstrations and living history interpre- tation from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The reenactment of the sacking and burning of the town will commence Saturday evening at 4:30 PM in the Old City, beginning at the Plaza and ending at the Old City Gates. We are always looking for new recruits to portray townspeople, garrison soldiers, Native Americans, and buccaneers! Our focus is on an accurate historical impression, using correct materials, styles, and equipment. The “Sack of St. Augustine: Capt. Robert Searle’s Raid of 1668” is a historical reenactment sponsored by Searle’s Buccaneers and the Men of Menendez (members of the Florida Historic Militia), with the assistance of the
